The digraphs ff, ll, and ss often appear at the end of short words after a single vowel.
- h as in hat, b as in bus, f as in fan
- ff as in puff, ll as in hill, ss as in kiss

This is often called the 'Floss Rule' - if a short word ends in /f/, /l/, or /s/ after one vowel, you usually double the consonant.
Play matching games with pictures and words (e.g., picture of a bell and the word 'bell').
